Root Out Hamas Once and For All

Last year, Cogport.com posted a summary history of Israel and Palestine going back to the time when Jews were enslaved in Ancient Egypt.

Since then, we have made reports about the current conflicts between Israel and Gaza.

We encourage you to review them the blog list of posts as background.

The October 7, 2023 surprise attacks from Gaza by Hamas killed 1200 Israelis.  Hamas took 251 Hostages, including 12 American citizens.  Of those hostages 53 have been confirmed dead.

Recent reports estimate that 20 hostages are still believed to be alive, with the captors also holding 30 dead bodies.  That would make a total of 83 dead hostages.

This atrocity set off a series of actions by Israel.

Israel achieved major wins - destroyed Iran’s nuclear sites and air defenses, vanquished the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, influenced the downfall of Assad’s tyranny in Syria, and significantly killed off Hamas military and leadership.

However, Hamas persists despite their losses.

Ceasefires and negotiations have proven futile.

In the past, Hamas has depended on Iran and Qatar for arms and other forms of aid.

Iran is no longer able to support.

Qatar, after meetings with Trump, has applied some pressure for Hamas to take part in ceasefire negotiations. That influence has been minimal.

So, what is happening now ?

A majority of Israelis want the war to end with remaining hostages released.

However, a majority also supports the elimination of Hamas.

Hamas refuses to give up, and has created a humanitarian crisis for the Palestinian people.

Hamas doesn’t care – they want to retain the power and monetary benefit they have always had.

Final Resolution

Here is a Strategy proposal.

Peace will never be reached with a Hamas presence – we should know that after dealing with them since their founding in 1987.  See the Footnote below about Hamas history to get a real view of the virulent hatred of Jews and Israel.

The U.S. should support Israel in all-out takeover of Gaza and elimination of Hamas.

How would this work:

First, seal off the entire border and create a blockade of any shipment of weapons to Hamas.

A full-out invasion of Gaza should go Sector by Sector starting at the border with Israel.

As a Sector is occupied, a safe haven should be created for Palestinian people to receive aid for food and shelter.  Relieve them of the threats from Hamas and independent of their control.

That would be followed by more Sector occupations with more safe havens until Gaza is fully occupied.  Root out Hamas once and for all.

The Future

A master plan of investment funding will be needed to rebuild Palestine.  So much has already been destroyed.  Create new businesses, employment, and housing.

Investments should come from Israel, United States, EU and Arab States for the sake of the entire region.

The idea of an independent state of Palestine is no longer a viable concept.  Maybe in the future when it is shown that the Palestinians are capable of stable self-governance.

Summary

The elimination of Hamas is the only viable solution.

When that is accomplished, the Palestinian people will have the chance for Peace and Prosperity.

In the meantime, there will be hardships.  No way to avoid it except to do the right thing by occupation and provision of aid directly to the people, not confiscated and controlled by Hamas.

This will have a cost in military and financial terms.

Lives will be lost. Nobody wants that, but too many lives have already been lost, and it continues daily without end.  It’s an inevitable outcome of military conflict and stopping an evil presence in Gaza.

This action will take firm leadership and funding.
