“How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?” —  song from movie The Sound of Music

Set in the time of Nazi Germany.

Now let’s take that question to a different realm.

How do you solve a problem like Hitler ?

His “fight to the death” strategy and indoctrination of the German people led to the utter destruction of Germany.  There were no holds barred by the Allies to defeat the Nazis, which unfortunately meant that many civilians lost their lives, and infrastructure decimated.  That was back to the Stone Age for Germany.  There was no other choice.  This did not make FDR a war criminal, and nobody would have even thought of it at the time.  Total Victory was achieved.

Now we have two big questions:

How to solve problems like Putin and the radical clerics in Iran.

The parallels between Hitler and Putin/Iran are striking.  If we have learned anything from history this is the time to get the threats in perspective.

Cogport has previously posted about Ukraine, Israel, and Iran.  Worth reading.

The rest of this report is focused on Iran.

There is a temporary “Double Ceasefire” whatever that means.

Iran proposed a 10 point plan that is totally implausible for an ultimate agreement.

In the meantime, both the U.S. and Iran are recharging.

What remains of Iran’s regime is still steeped in the top-down indoctrination of the radical ideology that dominates the entire structure of government.

There is no authority that can be trusted in negotiation of a permanent solution to Iran’s terror and desire for nuclear weapons that would increase their power exponentially.

“Death to America” and “Death to Israel” are unacceptable policies that they will continue.

Trump is under a lot of pressure to resolve this situation.  Oil prices and stock market effects have had worldwide impacts.  Hence there was a ceasefire for more “negotiation.”

Cogport has low confidence that negotiations will produce a permanent solution.  It is NOT in the nature of Iran’s government leaders whoever they are.  Even that is not clear – who is the U.S. talking to?

SO where does this all lead?

If you read Cogport’s previous posts, you will see the position that the action we have started must be brought to an ultimate conclusion for the future of the Middle East and security of the U.S. and Israel.

Iran must surrender it’s military arsenal, the IRGC dissolved, and uranium for nuclear bombs given up.

A new modern government must be installed for a permanent solution.  Cogport has provided an outline for this based on the models of how Germany and Japan were restructured after WWII.  It worked.

Summary:

In the next post in this series, Cogport will give more detail and how a restructuring program would be managed for Iran.
