The last two Reports focused on Mark Zuckerberg and money impact on the 2020 election, potentially in favor of Democrats.

Cogport reviewed Zuckerberg’s contribution of $ 450 Million to support local election offices.

The Republicans also had a major benefactor in Miriam Adelson, the widow of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.  Over $ 200 Million was donated in the 2020 election cycle for Republican causes.

Here is a breakdown of the major donations.  These figures are based on reports from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and various sources tracking political contributions.

1. Preserve America PAC (Pro-Trump Super PAC)

  • Donation: $75 million

  • Purpose: This Super PAC supported Donald Trump's reelection effort.

2. Senate Leadership Fund (Super PAC supporting Republican Senate candidates)

  • Donation: $62.5 million

  • Purpose: This PAC focused on maintaining and winning Republican control of the U.S. Senate.

3. Congressional Leadership Fund (Super PAC supporting Republican House candidates)

  • Donation: $50 million

  • Purpose: This PAC aimed to help Republicans regain or maintain control of the House of Representatives.

4. Republican National Committee (RNC)

  • Donation: $50 million

  • Purpose: General support for the Republican Party and its candidates.

5. Trump Victory (Joint Fundraising Committee for Trump’s reelection and the Republican Party)

  • Donation: $90 million (over multiple contributions)

  • Purpose: This committee raised funds for Donald Trump’s reelection and Republican state parties.

Total Contributions by the Adelsons in the 2020 Cycle:

  • The Adelsons contributed over $200 million total to Republican and conservative causes during the 2020 election cycle.

Summary:

This is another example of excess in Money and Politics.

The next Report will conclude this Series, although this issue will be a constant in discussion of future policy issues.

Cogport will discuss the dangers of Money and Politics, and remedies to minimize its influence.
