In his wisdom, George Washington feared the effects of Political Parties on the government.
It was not long after that Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton formed opposing Parties.
Since then, a Two Party system has dominated politics and evolution of Congressional Rules of procedure. In recent years, extreme partisanship has led to dysfunction in Congress. George Washington was right.
The Two-Party system dominates the current system of governance.
Is the time right for introduction of a Third Party ?
After retirement, Sen Joe Lieberman founded an organization to run independent candidates for office. For a while Sen Joe Manchin, now a retired Independent, flirted with using that platform to run for President in 2024. He decided against it not to upset the status quo.
Today, the Democrat Party is at its lowest tide since the 1930’s when FDR leadership rescued it from obscurity. It does not appear to Cogport that Democrats have a current leader that could do the same thing as FDR.
The current Democrat strategy is fight, protest in the streets and bash Trump. This negativism is pushing away voters. Democrats need a positive message and policies that voters want to hear.
Gavin Newsom and Adam Schiff are not the solution. They are the problem. As are AOC, Crockett, Waters and other extremists.
Meanwhile, the Republicans hold together despite their range of views from moderate to extreme conservatism. They are receiving the benefit of the Democrats demise with a huge increase in voter registration over the last 4 years.
There has been an overall shift of approximately 4.5 million voters toward the Republican Party between 2020 and 2024.
It would seem the time is right for a leader like Joe Manchin to step up and form a Third Party dedicated to attracting moderate Democrats and Republicans with the best interests and policies for the People. And get Money out of Politics.
The 2026 Election will tell the tale of the future.
